“I have always been a big guy and have been able to carry my weight without any issues. In 2007, I quit tobacco and gained 28 pounds in 6 months, pushing me up to 270. October of 2011 I was opening a new store for Earthfare and I got tired. Traveling a lot with my job, living in hotels, and eating just whatever ballooned me up to 297! Earthfare is a health food store that promotes healthy foods for the common good. I just simply had to make a change.

The changing point… I told my wife that I had met this guy, Josh, at Earthfare and he owned a place called CrossFit Akron. I had talked to Josh a few times about what they do and he encouraged me to come in. So one lonely cold day in NE Ohio I walked into CrossFit Akron. This was what I needed to get my weight back in control.

I started out with Private Training with CrossFit Akron due to my busy travel schedule. I met with Jason Elrod at early 5 am training sessions. He helped get me into the shape I needed to join the group classes.

Since November, I have lost 25 lbs, dropped 2 pant sizes, and can actually bend over and pick something up off the floor without turning red in the face. The CrossFit Akron team has helped launch the new me. I can run, squat, and do many more exercises I once thought I wasn’t able to do. As intense as the WOD’s are, I am loving every minute of it.
